It originates from Madison Avenue advertising, (including Hollywood) over years and years.

This is how the Consumer Culture controls Men, by making money through shame, arrogance, lies, selfishness, lack of self control and showing disrespect.

Here’s an exercise for all you Men…….

Go through each of the comments above and match each one to the opposite of the Moral Virtues of Manliness listed below.

I’ll do the first one for you:

Boys don’t cry, Pink is a girl’s color, boys don’t play with dolls

Humility – Arrogance – Yup, arrogant comments for sure.

Integrity – Lying  – Yup, Boys DO cry (it makes them human!) pink is NOT just for girls, sometimes boys play with toys that can be seen as dolls.

Selflessness – Selfish behavior – Not much here.

Self control – Lack of Self Control – Not much here

Showing Respect – Disrespectful – Yup. Boys don’t cry, shows disrespect for basic human behavior and a lack of emotional intelligence.

Try these out for all the comments above.

The beauty of the Moral Virtues is you can use them as yardsticks to measure Manliness in any Man.  Just take each virtue and apply it to observed behavior.

The Moral Virtues listed above are a part of Manliness, produced and nurtured by fighting.

The Martial Culture is truly a moral culture, while the Consumer Culture has little regard for morals,  with the only goal to make money by using and discounting Men.
